Taiba, Brasil

Aktualisiert: 30. Aug. 2019

October is windy season in Brasil! This was my second time kiting in Brasil - I heard a lot about the lagoon in Taiba before so when my kite instructor and friend Sonni organised a trip to go there it was a no brainer for me to hop on and come along!

Getting to Taiba has gotten a lot easier (so I was told) since more and more airlines started to fly directly to Fortaleza. From there it’s roughly a two hour drive that gets you to your destination. I was staying at Casa Amarela, a small pousada run by Steffi and her small team - all of whom were lovely! The pousada is located just a stone throw from the sea and a 5 minute buggy ride from the lagoon.

Usually we left around 9am for the morning session, came back to Casa Amarela for our lunch break and some time to relax and then headed out again for the afternoon session around 2pm. The first couple of days the wind was on the lighter side, so I was flying my 10 or 8 sqm (f-one Bandit) but for the rest of this trip it was 6 sqm for me, which is pretty much what I expected.

Whether you want a flat water session or you’d rather catch some waves - Taiba got it all. At the lagoon the wind is pretty consistent, however, it can get a little crowded, so it pays off to get there kinda early (sometimes a little difficult, cos the caipirinhas at Casa Amarela are super yummy...).

If waves are what your heart desires, there’s a good spot just a couple of minutes away!

While I was staying at Casa Amarela I met Lukas who offered to do a kiting photo session - I’m super happy with the pictures he took, but take a look for yourself...

I really enjoyed my stay in Brasil and I’m sure I’ll be back at some point!
